Key elements of business card design

A business card is the one of the first things that is exchanged between two unknown people meeting for the first time to strike some business. This is also used when you have to provide the contact details to someone, not necessarily for the introduction of the business to the other. Here are some of the details that must be mentioned on the business card:
1. Names: The name of the organization to the person belongs as well as the name of the employee needs to be incorporated on the card. However, there might be a requirement of the general business cards to be made which would not be carrying the prints of individual’s name. These could be given to any person who could be temporarily representing the company to some other person. Also, these general cards could also serve alternative purposes, like being used as special offer coupons. The name of the organization appears on most of the official communication tools. This would be present not only on these cards but also on the official stationery as well as on the brochures. Brochure printing bears the name of the organization, not of individuals. The names of either the organization or the individual or both of them can also figure on the name cards. However, these do not carry rest of the contact details of the company or individual.
2. Contact details: Contact details of the businesses are provided on these cards so that these serve as references for future use. These details include the address, telephone numbers (fixed and mobiles), fax numbers, VOIP IDs with service providers name and email IDs. These contact details are not present on the name cards and this is the chief distinguishing element between it and the business card.
3. Main products and services: The main products and services which the company deals in are mentioned on the card. Here it is important to note that if the company deals in a number of products and services then the broadest possible category which can uniquely identify the products of that category shall be mentioned on the card. In this respect it is different from brochures. Brochure printing is done with the detailed description of all the models of products.

It is also interesting to note that the designing of stickers is also done differently, even though same set of information might be required to be put in as in the business card. There has to be the name of the organization as well as the contact details but the main focus remains on the products and services that are to be provided. This is the most prominently highlighted part of the stickers. These can be used in different ways to spread the word about your company and its main products and services. In this way, these are essentially the tools of marketing and branding. These can be affixed on any article or surface which would make it possible for the companies to use it on a range of articles, from the product tags to the packing and packaging materials.
